About Me

Hello!

I’m Lenka, a 30-something Czech who has been resting her bones in the UK for the past 15 years. Despite spending almost half of my life in the UK, I am definitely still a true Czech at heart :-).

I settled in a small market town in Warwickshire, called Stratford upon Avon. I live with my other half Chris, who asked me to marry him 5 years ago now (gosh, the time flies!). Just before Christmas 2020, we sadly lost our 18 +/- year old cat Prince, who was our absolute world. Since then, we’ve had a new addition to our family, a little tabby cat girl, called Bee.

Ever since I was little, my passion for animals has always been in me. 9 years ago I partially opened my eyes and gave up meat, but my real journey started in February 2018, when I finally decided to follow my heart and take the next step of giving up all animal products. Since then, all of a sudden, I seemed to had found my purpose. I started educating myself properly on full vegan lifestyle, including change in diet, animal cruelty and the environmental issues such as the negative impact animal agriculture has on our planet, as well as our health. I began exploring new foods and recipes and in July 2019 I started volunteering at an animal sanctuary, which massively helped me with anxiety that I was experiencing along this, often emotional, journey.

Apart from living for animals, I love travelling. Travelling anywhere from far and wide to places just round the corner. I love to escape whenever I can, wherever I can and when I am not hugging sheep, pigs, cows and chickens, I am either getting my toes buried in sand somewhere on the beach or climbing hills, and of course, rescuing bees, snails and worms along the way :)!

During the past couple of years I have experienced many ups and downs and only now I am learning how to love myself and how to use my passion in a positive way. How to treat myself kindly and how to be the best version of myself I can be. I am not in any way perfect and still have a lot to learn but I continue to grow and embrace change, remain true to my ethics and my beliefs, all the while attempting to help inspire others to do the same.

As much as I am passionate about the earth and its animals, I want to be able to help myself and others who struggle with mental health due to trying to cope with living as a vegan in a not so much vegan world. I am intending to do this through some incredibly tasty, plant-based recipes and little snippets of my life and what I get up to.

I am not here to be someone else, or to be like the others. I’m here to be me and kindlifebylenks.com is going to be about steps in our lives we can take to become more mindful of the choices we make.
