Banana & Berry Oat Smoothie for a Healthy Heart
Today’s smoothie was so yummy that it inspired me to take some photos, write the ingredients down and share the recipe with you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Just like most of my other smoothie recipes, this one is simple, quick and relatively affordable. Perfect for breakfast, post workout or just an afternoon snack.
Berries will soon be in season here in the UK and other European countries so, you will be able to pick your own, which might be beneficial to your wallet, saving you some pennies.
I N G R E D I E N T S :
- 1 banana
- handful of blueberries
- a few raspberries
- a couple of strawberries
- 3/4 cup of oats
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 250ml oat milk or any plant-based milk of your choice
For your berries, you can either use fresh or frozen. As lovely and flavourful fresh berries are, they are also more expensive and can start to decompose very quickly if not used within a couple of days. I love using frozen berries majority of times. Not only they keep vitamins locked in, they are also cheaper to buy, easy to keep in your freezer for as long as you want, but they also make your smoothie nice and cold without having to use ice.

To make this smoothie, simply throw all the ingredients into a blender or a smoothie maker and blend until smooth. Transfer into a mug or a glass and enjoy!
Thanks to the oats, chia seeds and banana, this smoothie really fills you up and therefore makes the perfect breakfast, ready in literally 2 minutes.
Both blueberries and raspberries are known to be THE KING of antioxidant foods. They are low in calories but high in nutrients. Not only can they lower your risk of heart disease and cancer but they also contain anti-inflammatory properties. Strawberries add vitamin C, manganese and vitamin B9.
This smoothie is pure goodness in a glass!! 🙂
Please, let me know in a comment what you think of it, shall you recreate this smoothie :-).
