Hot Berry & Chia Seed Oatmeal
As you can probably tell, I have been loving my oatmeal recently. It is my all-time favourite breakfast and it is the perfect combination of goodness and comfort for starting my day. I would easily say I eat oatmeal 5 mornings out of 7 and it never gets boring. There are endless amounts of ways how you can make it, totally depending on time or imagination.
This hot berry recipe is great if you like hot toppings. I personally do because they warm my tummy up first thing in the morning. I don’t add too much sugar as I love that bit of sourness but you can of course, alter it to your liking.
I N G R E D I E N T S :
- 1 cup of plant-based milk of your choice
- 1/2 cup oats
- 2 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp flax seeds
- 1/2 cup frozen (or fresh) berries
- 1 tbsp coconut sugar
- cashew nuts
- mixed seeds
M E T H O D :
For this recipe you will need two pots. One to cook the oats in and the other for your berry sauce.
- Pour any plant-based milk into one pot and add the oats. Bring to boil, add chia and flax seeds and cook for about 3 minutes.
- At the same time, place the frozen berries into the other pot, add coconut sugar and allow to heat until berries are completely defrosted.
Both steps take the same amount of time to prepare.
Tranfer the oats into a bowl and pour the berries over the top. Decorate with cashew nuts and/or other toppings of your choice.

What impact does dairy have on our planet?
Looking at the global averages illustrated in the chart below, producing a glass of dairy milk results in almost three times the greenhouse gas emissions of any non-dairy milks, according to a University of Oxford study.
Plant-based milks are superior to cow’s milk when it comes to the environment. Plant-based products are less environmentally taxing than animal-based products. So, if you’re looking to reduce your carbon footprint, plant-based may be the way to go.
